 Counselling Supervision Course

16 weeks (CPD - 96 hours)

This course is designed to give counsellors the knowledge, skills and competencies to provide clinical supervision for counselling practitioners. It is aimed at counsellors who have acquired sufficient client work experience to contemplate the move into a clinical supervision role.

  • Attendees will gain an understanding of both the functions and commonly used models of clinical supervision.

  • Attendees will look in detail at the supervisory relationship

  • Attendees will explore the developmental stages of the supervisory relationship

  • Attendees will understand how to structure supervision to meet their own and their supervisees' needs and build a productive relationship between supervisor and supervisee

  • Attendees will gain an understanding of transference and counter-transference

  • Attendees will learn how to make supervision stimulating and to balance informal and formal elements in supervision

  • Attendees will practice the use of a number of supervision protocols and scripts and explore their adaption to their own supervision circumstances

  • Attendees will explore contracting and the necessary paperwork that needs to be in place (including supervision contracts, safeguarding, confidentiality and information sharing, record keeping, GDPR, Clinical Wills, feedback )

  • Attendees will explore the relevant ethical framework for supervision and how this will impact their practice

  • Attendees will explore common supervision problems and dilemmas and practice their resolution

  • Attendees will explore their own experiences of clinical supervision and the supervisory relationship

  • Attendees will develop their own self-awareness and reflective practice skills

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have either:


Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling OR

Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Skills and Theory
AND at least 2 years post qualifying experience OR

Level 4 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and at least 2 years post qualifying experience (minimum of 300 hours counselling)


All applicants will be required to attend an interview to determine suitability for the course.

COST & COURSE DATES 2020/2021

The course will be running from September 2021 til January 2022.

​

The training dates are;

18th/19th/25th September

2nd/9th/16th October

6th/7th/13th/20th/27th November - (6th/7th will be a residential)

4th/11th December

8th,15th/16th January

​

Venue - Helford House, Threemilestone Industrial Estate, Truro, TR4 9LD


Total Cost: £1400.00

A deposit of £400 is payable if offered a place on the course. 5 payments of £200.00 will then be made on the 10th of the month from September to December 2021.
